Richard Lee Walters, age 63, of Mount Vernon Ave., Fredericktown passed away on Saturday March 20, 2004 at his residence. He was born on July 11, 1940 in Newark, Ohio to the late Arley Lee Walters and Genevie (McKibben) Walters Larimore. Mr. Walters and his wife owned and operated Dick’s Muffler Shop in Mount Vernon for 15 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of several bowling leagues in Fredericktown. Mr. Walters served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961. He was a 1958 graduate of Utica High School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Amy (Magill) Walters, a daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Bechtel of Utica and given daughter, Lindy (Jerry) Hall Waterbeck of Willard, a granddaughter, Shelbi Bechtel, two brothers, Robert (Marianne) Walters of Abbeville, South Carolina and Raymond “Larry” (Ruth) Walters of Apple Valley.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. A graveside service with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown. Rev. Joe Blevins will be officiating.
