Richard L. Daniels, age 83, of Sycamore Road, Mount Vernon, died Saturday February 10, 2007. Richard was born November 12, 1923 at Amity to Gail and Helen (Albright) Daniels, was a graduate of Amity High School, maintained a dairy farm for several years and after retiring from the dairy farm continued to grain farm.

Richard was a member of the Grove Church of Christ near Gambier, serving in many capacities through the years. He was a Clay Township Trustee, Soil Conservation supervisor, Mount Vernon Farmers Exchange Board member, served on the Knox County Fair Board, Knox County Farm Bureau Board, was a 4H advisor and remained active on the Knox County Ag Museum Committee.

Surviving are his wife Sarah (McConnell) Daniels whom he married December 14, 1947; his daughter Helen (Leck) McKee of Gambier; his son Jim (Kathryn) Daniels of Fredericktown; brother John (Esther) Daniels; sister Barbara (Harry) Dunn; sisters-in-law Ruth Daniels, Betty Daniels, Elizabeth Wolfe, Mary Miller, and Ruth McConnell; grandchildren Tisha (Chuck) Melick, Tonya (Grant) Mickley, Ryan (Leigh) Daniels, Mandy (Josh) Havenar, Chet Daniels; great grandchildren Cade, Shanna and Taryn Mickley, Kenton Mickley, Weston and Shanda Melick, and Adam Daniels. In addition to his parents, his sisters Mildred Coon and Mary Daniels, brothers Robert Daniels, and Paul Daniels and brothers-in-law Wesley Miller, Wendell Wolfe and William McConnell preceded him in death.

Friends may call Tuesday from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Private family funeral services will be held at the Grove Church of Christ near Gambier with Evangelist Jerold Tear officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
