Richard J. “Dick” Lyon, 93 of Galion, died March 2, 2014 at Millcreek Nursing Center.
Born July 29, 1920 in, Martel, he was the son of Clarence and Estella (Hines) Lyon. He married Nettie Ilagene Seiter on June 22, 1941 and she survives.
Dick was a graduate of Martel High School in 1939 and served in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church, where he was very active and worked for the former North Electric/ITT where he was a general foreman in the shipping department. He was a great golfer, liked to travel and had wintered previously in Florida every year. He was a life member of the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Della Lyon of Galion, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Martha Lyon of Caledonia.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Lyon, Jr., four brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 12 to 1p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion and a graveside service will be held Friday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Iberia Cemetery with Pastor Tom Badanjek officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Army and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
