Richard E. Frye

MANSFIELD ~ Richard E. Frye, of Mansfield, passed away Friday morning January 15, 2010 surrounded by his family, in his home. He was 87.
He was born January 22, 1922 in Mansfield to Chester A. and Viola May (Bottomley) Frye, and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1942.
On June 8, 1941 he married Doris Kennedy and went on to serve with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Frye was a sixty-year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union local #42, and was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Doris Frye; their children Richard Frye, Jr. of South San Francisco, Calif., Michael A. & Sandra Frye of Ontario, Judith E. Frye of Madison, Wisc., and Peggy & Fred White of Thornville; grandchildren Mark Richard Frye of Mansfield, Steven Michael Frye of Chicago, Ill., and Aaron Michael & Tara White of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews.
His brothers Robert A. Frye and Chester C. Frye preceded him in death as did a sister Mrs. Stanley (Eleanore) Sneeringer.
The Frye family will receive friends Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue (former Finefrock Funeral Home), where his funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions to Mansfield Memorial Museum may be made at the funeral home.
