Richard E. Fredritz

Richard E. Fredritz, age 73, of Marion, and previously of Tiffin, passed away early in the morning on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Marion General Hospital with his family by his side.
On November 1, 1935, Richard was born in Tiffin, Ohio, the son of Carl and Thelma (Ringle) Fredritz.
Shortly following graduation from Tiffin Columbian High School, Richard enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served for almost four years. He then worked at the Erie Railroad, Marion Power Shovel and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) from which he retired. He also attended Ohio Northern University.
On June 25, 1960 Richard married Patricia J. (Matthews) Fredritz.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 20 years as well as a member of the Marion Civitan Club, a past President of the Marion Garden Club, and served with the Marion County Auxiliary Sheriff’s Department.
A dependable and loyal friend, Dick loved to play cards with his buddies. But, most importantly he was a family-centered man who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife Patricia J. Fredritz of Marion; 3 children: Ben (Jennifer) Fredritz and their daughter Bella of Columbus; Jenny (Bruce) Nicely and their children Julia and Joseph of Powell; Trish and her daughter Madisen of Marion; one sister Sandra (Bob) Neer of Tennessee; and many friends whom he loved dearly.
Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Ed Matthews of Marion.
The Fredritz family will greet friends on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion, from 1 p.m until the time of service at 3 p.m. Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Mori will be officiating.
