Richard D. “Rick” Salyers, age 45 of Fort Pierce, Florida and Delaware area, died unexpectedly Saturday in Florida.

He was born on October 15, 1961 in Tiffin to Helen L. Wade Newell and William Salyers. Rick was a 1980 graduate of Centerburg High School and he attended the Westside Baptist Church in Fort Pierce. He worked for First Class Golf and Landscaping.

Rick was a very loving person who loved people unconditionally. He was said to be the peacekeeper in the family and enjoyed The Ohio Sate Buckeyes Football. He also liked to put on his cowboy hat and boots and kick up his heels at the local clubs line dancing. One other habit he had was to buy things on the shopping channel and then never use them or use them once and put them aside.

He is survived by his mother: Helen (David) Newell of Circleville; father: William Salyers of Fort Pierce, Fl.; brothers: Gary (Lisa) Salyers of Galena, Brian Salyers of Apache Junction, Az.; sisters: Connie Knight of Mesa, Az., Ramona Salyers of Apache Junction, Az.; step-brothers: Randy Newell of Circleville, Robert (Michelle) Newell of Twentynine Palms, Ca., Richard Newell of Delaware; aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by brother: Ronald in 2003.

Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Saturday 10 a.m. with Pastor Ken Mossor officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
