MANSFIELD: Richard “Dick” Hosler, 89, of Mansfield passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 in Brethren Care Village following an extended illness.
The son of Howard and Frances (Etz) Hosler, Richard was born May 16, 1928 in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1946. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics graduating from Denison University in 1950. A U.S. military veteran, Dick served and was honorably discharged from the Army.
On February 4, 1958 in the First Congregational Church he married Martha Tracy.
For nearly 25 years he worked for Tappan Stove Company as district manager and 20 years for Caldwell and Bloor as assistant manager. Upon retirement Dick began working his most enjoyable job as bailiff working alongside many great judges.
Dick was a member of the American Legion Post #535, AmVets Post #26, VFW #7651, member of the Korean War Veterans Association, member of Sons of Herman, Mansfield Liederkranz, Moose Lodge #303, and 40&8.
A great golfer, Dick played in numerous local golf leagues.
Along with his loving and devoted wife, Martha, Dick is survived by his children Pamela (Peter) Josendale of Kansas City, Missouri, Andy Hosler of Coral Springs, Florida, Tony (Lisa) Hosler of Elko, Nevado, Polly (Scott) Morgan of Powell; grandchildren Tami, Donny, Amy, Nicole, Tyler, Brandi, Allison, and Claire; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson Jimmy and sister Carol Burkholder and brother-in-law Richard Burkholder.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 10 am-12pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions to Richland County Joint Veterans Council may be made through the funeral home.
