November 18, 1957 ‒ April 20, 2010

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD~ Rick Orsborn passed peacefully Tuesday evening April 20, 2010 at Oak Grove Manor. He was lovingly cared for, and surrounded by family and friends during the course of his lengthy illness.

He was born 52 years ago on November 18, 1957 in Ashland to Richard A. Orsborn, Sr. and Frances Bidinger Orsborn. He grew up in rural Ashland and Lexington. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1973, and Rick returned to Mansfield in 2006 to be closer to family.

Rick carried a gentle soul, which always noticed and spoke to any child or animal he encountered. He was especially close to family pets “Daisy”, “Roxy”, and “Hoss.” He relished the peace of the out-of-doors whether he was camping, at the family cabin in the mountains, or working. Quite the character, Rick has a ready smile and was friendly to all he met, He was a “ladies man” and always greeted the girls with “Hey Smiley” or “Baby Girl”, much to the embarrassment of his many sisters. He was often eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. He held many part-time jobs in firewood, apartment renovation, lawn & landscape maintenance and recycling businesses. He enjoyed a get-together with family and friends where he was a champion “Farkle” and “Quarters” player.

He will be sadly missed by his father Richard A. (Carole) Orsborn, Sr. of Mansfield; stepmother Kay A. Orsborn of Mansfield; sisters Victoria L. (John) Cochran of Lucas, Robin R. Orsborn (Ron Bender) of Mansfield, Tami A. (Dave) Walsh of Mt. Vernon, Dawn M. (Neil) Boudinot of Medina, Amy J. (Joe) Hartley of Tucson, AZ, and Heather F. (Kelly) Borden of Callaway, MD; stepsisters Sue (Clarence) Mayhugh, Deb (Neal) Havoner, Donna (Dave) Merrick and Kim Orsborn. He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and great nephews and numerous aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother Frances R. Bidinger Orsborn-Smith, stepfather Clifford Smith, grandparents Ralph & Anne Mae Orsborn and Robert V., Helen and Marion Bidinger.

Calling hours are Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue, Mansfield (Former Finefrock Funeral Home), with his service to follow at 7 p.m.
