Rex William Marks, age 72, of Marion, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Marion General Hospital.

Rex was born in Vinton County on May 24, 1947 to the late Delmar Ray Sr., and Helen (Taylor) Marks.  Rex moved to Marion in 1964 where he found work at several gas stations and garages. Rex was employed, for more than 20 years, at Quaker Oats where he worked as a machine operator.

Rex married Brenda Sue Aldridge on July 2, 1967 after the two met ‘shooting the loop’ in downtown Marion.  She preceded him in death on June 19, 2010.

Rex enjoyed time with his family taking trips to Tennessee and visiting family in Port Clinton, Ohio.  In younger years he enjoyed fishing and taught his children many life skills including how to change a tire and work in the garden.

Having a good sense of humor, Rex’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved to spend time with him.

Rex is survived by children, Christy L. (Terry) Jordan of La Rue and Derek L. (Kim) Marks of Marion; grandchildren, Sarah Kristine (Derek) Jordan Presley, Emily Sue (Isaiah) Jordan Mason, and Brittany (Richard) Marks Roszman; and great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Maisie, Peyton, Leigha, Da’Shon, and Everlee.

In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by siblings, Rosie Marks, Carolyn Sexton, and Judy Jean Kisor.

Private family services will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel with burial in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rex’s honor to Riverside’s Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.
