Rev. Raymond Kenneth Clevenger, age 82, of Ashley with a purposeful life well lived, passed into spirit on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Riverside Hospital with family.

He was born on October 20, 1928 in Leonardsburg to the late Harry Arthur and Rose Marie (Weiser) Clevenger. A U.S. Army Air Forces veteran, he married the former Ruth Ann (Harris) on November 10, 1952. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 53 years until she passed in 2006.

Ken was a devoted and active member of White Lily Chapel in Ashley since 1969 and became an ordained minister in 1986. His work with the church and church family were central for the duration of his life. He also worked for North American Rockwell and ODOT District 6, before retiring. To all Ken was trustworthy. He believed in hard work and fair play, was a lifelong learner and teacher who valued wisdom and reason.

Kenneth will forever be the Captain of the Clevenger family ship; a family he was dedicated to, a family who loves him deeply, will miss him greatly and knows he is well in his new journey.

He is survived by sons, Rev. James Steven Clevenger (Diane) of Columbus and John Clevenger of Marion, daughters, Susan (Rod) Ishida of Lancaster, Marjorie (Tim) Harrel, Laura (Terry) Smith, and June (Rev. Jeff) Acker all of Ashley, grandchildren, Jamie, Aaron (Sarah) and Stacey Clevenger, Evan and Eric Ishida, Adam (Beth) Harrel, Beth (Travis) Divelbiss, Justin and Ben Smith, Nathan (Rebecca) Deel, Alexis, Haley and Zachary Clevenger, great- grandchildren Erica, David, Joshua, Addison, Hadley, great-great-grandson Zane, brother Harry (RosaLee) Clevenger, sisters Kathryn (Clovis) Conley of Oklahoma City, OK, Irene (Bill) Butdorf and Nancy Smallwood of Coldwater, MI, and sister-in-law: Beverly Clevenger of TN.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Charmaine Clevenger, brothers Leroy and Edward.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Rev. R. Kenneth Clevenger will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6th at White Lily Chapel in Ashley, with his good friend, the Rev. Cindy Berkshire officiating. A time of joyful fellowship, remembrance, dance and food will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Recreation Unlimited Lodge, 7700 Piper Road, Ashley.
