Regina Mary (Dombrowski) Callahan

MANSFIELD: Regina Mary (Dombrowski) Callahan, age 85, of Lexington passed away Tuesday evening, July 21, 2009 in Olentangy Woods in Galion following a brief illness.
She was born August 10, 1923 in Cleveland to John and Mary (Sasula) Dombrowski.
On October 7, 1959 she married John B. Callahan. Together the couple often traveled to one of their favorite spots, Niagra Falls. John preceded her in death on May 14, 1997.
Regina worked as a beautician in Cleveland working out of her own salon until her retirement at age 75.
She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. True to her Polish culture, Regina was and excellent baker; her famous cookies were better known to her family as kolachke.
Most of all, and again true to her Polish heritage, Regina loved being with her family, and spending time with them.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Geraldine A. “Geri” and Richard Kankiewicz of Lexington, five grandchildren and their spouses Steven and Debbie Kankiewicz, Debbie Kankiewicz and her campanion Dennis Pitsch, Renee and Mark Unger, Dina and Jeff Colorosa, and Dean Kankiewicz; fourteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law Rose Marie Dombrowski of Texas.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister Jane Morilak, and a brother Thadeus Dombrowski.
Friends may call Friday, July 24, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in Resurrection Parish. The Rev. Father Nelson Beaver celebrant. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
