Reecie Selvage, 94, of Sunbury, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Cherith Care Center at Willow Brook in Delaware while surrounded by his treasured family.

He was born on April 8, 1917 in Barnetts Creek, Kentucky to the late Alfred and Emma (Ratliff) Selvage. His treasured wife, whom he loved much longer than their marriage of 66 years Eskalein (Baldwin) died in 2004. Moving to Delaware in 1957 home was his favorite place. He worked as a forklift operator for Jantriol and Sunray.

His life centered on his family as well his church family of the United Baptist Church. In gentle quietness you always felt his presence. He enjoyed his farm and garden, and also woodworking.

He is survived by his beloved family; son, Dan (Charlene) Selvage of Centerburg, four daughters Erie Phyllis (Jerry) Volz of Detroit, MI, Mary (Dick) Morris of Sunbury, Marty (James) McCurdy of Delaware, and Cathy (Greg) Roy of Sunbury, Ohio; nine grandchildren Rick, Jennifer, Chris, Stephen, Tricia, Alex, Matthew, Andy and Chad, ten great grandchildren and sister, Hester Pierce.

He also was preceded in death by son Teddy, brothers Clinton, Edward, and Charles, sisters Gartha Baldwin, Erie Rice, and Edna Lena Selvage.

Friends may call Friday 3-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the Saturday 11:00 a.m. services at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, interment Green Mound Cemetery, Kilbourne.
