LEXINGTON: Reatha Mae Schneider, 85, of Otterbein Drive, Lexington, died Thursday November 16, 2006 in her home following a sudden illness.

She was born February 20, 1921 in Bellville to Melvin and Grace (Tanner) Snyder, and was graduated from Bellville High School in 1939.

On August 2, 1939 she married Joseph J. Schneider, and they remained lifelong area residents.

Reatha had worked as a proofreader, first with the Mansfield News Journal for 15 years, retiring in 1969. She then worked for 7 years at the Galion Inquirer.

She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple and the Retired Citizens Club of the church.

She was a member of Lexington Senior-Civic Center, and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

She is survived by three grandchildren Melissa Alkazaz of Streetsboro, Pam Huvler of Mansfield and Michael Huvler of Wills Point, Texas; seven great grandchildren; a stepson Stan Schneider of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews; her special friend Carol Brown of Mansfield; and her dog “Molly”.

Her husband Joe preceded her in death in 1991. Also deceased is her daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Roger Huvler; sister Velma Flegal and brothers Leslie Snyder, Eugene, George, Lee and Richard Patman.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 20, 2006 from 10 ~ 11 am in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held at 11. The Rev. Dr. Richard Folger will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions to Lexington Senior-Civic Center may be made at the funeral home.
