Raymond R Hoffman, 82, of Galion passed away Tuesday morning, February 4, 2014 in the Mill Creek Nursing Home in Galion.
He was born May 21, 1931 in Mansfield and was the son of Albert and Marie (Hasenzahl) Hoffman.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army and was a life member of both the AMVETS Post#1979 Polk Twp. and Army Navy Garrison 987 and was a member of the Owls Club all of Galion. He previously worked 18 years for the Gledhill Road Machinery as a shear operator and then worked 11 years for the Street Dept. for the City of Galion where he retired in 1993. He was an avid woodworker and a NFL fan with his favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by four children; son Rance (Carrie) Hoffman, daughters Rhalana (Chuck) North, Shawnna Coleman all of Galion and Dakeena (Richard) Morris of Gahanna; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Hoffman, Donald Hoffman and Bill Hoffman; three sisters, Esther Russell, Donna Weymers and Margaret Dolce and a special friend and companion, Joann Highman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the AMVETS Polk Twp. Post 1979, 420 Harding Way East, Galion conducted by the U.S. Army and the Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
