Raymond A. Tawse

BELLVILLE: Raymond A. Tawse, 80, of West Durbin Avenue, Bellville, died Sunday afternoon May 25, 2003 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a long illness.
He was born March 10, 1923 in Cleveland to Alfred S. and Mabel Blackhall Tawse, and was graduated from Lodi High School in 1941.
Raymond served in the US Army during WWII with the 428th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the Pacific Theater.
He worked as a life insurance agent with Western-Southern Life, first from their Wadsworth office and then from their Norton office, retiring in 1983 following 37 years of service.
He was a member and Past Master (1977) of Wadsworth Masonic Lodge #385, a member of Harrisville Masonic Lodge #137 in Lodi and Oriental Chapter #128 in West Salem.
A loving husband and father, Raymond loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, and moved to Bellville 4 months ago from Wadsworth.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice A. Mueller Tawse, whom he married June 28, 1947; his children and their spouses Thomas R. and Sandra Tawse of Acworth, Georgia, Linda R. and Robert Lull of Bellville and James M. and Debra Tawse of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren Kimberly and Anthony Brown of Miamisburg, Jason Tawse of Spring, Texas, Laura Lull of Bellville and Nicholas Tawse of The Woodlands, Texas; and a sister and brother-in-law Norma and Max Longsdorf of Lodi.
A grandson Robbie M. Lull preceded him in death in 1983.
Friends may call Wednesday May 28, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 8:45 pm.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 am in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 48 Church Street, Bellville, with the Rev. Doug Pretorius officiating. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery, where the Richland County Joint Veterans Council will hold graveside military honors.
Memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Shriner’s Hospital may be made at the funeral home.
