MANSFIELD: Ray Junior Harris, Sr., 70, of Mansfield passed away Sunday September, 24, 2017 in OhioHealth Hospital Mansfield.

The son of Eb and Lorain (Fletcher) Harris, Ray was born February 15, 1947 in Logan, West Virginia.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, and would fish in Fremont and Michigan.  Ray took pride in his vegetable garden.  A Steelers fan, he always cheered for the black and gold.  More than anything, Ray loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Harris of Mansfield whom he married February 17, 1973; children Phil Nelson, Christie (Charles) Seward, Sheila (Kevin) Hilliard, Raeann (John) Peppard, and Ray Harris, II, (Shannon Spears) all of Mansfield, Eb Harris (Stacey Reddick) of Mt. Vernon; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Lori Harris of Mansfield; five brothers Frank (Hazel) Harris, Sam (Debby) Clark, Carlos Clark, Earl (Betty) Brewer, and James (Sue) Clinage numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and a special caregivers “Ashey-Bug” and Raeann.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son Matt Harris; sister and brother-in-law Martha (Roger) Aurthor; sister-in-law and brother Carol (Luke) Brewer; mother-in-law Josephine Clinage; brother-in-law Robert Clinage; grandson Eb Harris; granddaughter Erica Seward; great granddaughter Kayley Seward; nephew Earl Brewer; special friend James Ray.

Ray’s family will receive friends Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Snyder Funeral Homes may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.
