Ralph Michael Lyons, 47, of Cardington, Ohio died Thursday evening November 16, 2006 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a courageous 3 month battle with cancer.

He was born on November 2, 1959 in Mount Gilead, Ohio the son of the late Amos L. and Bernadine (Geren) Lyons. He has been a member of the community his entire life. He worked for Advanced Auto Distribution Center in Delaware in warehouse receiving for the past 15 years. He and his fiancé Lois Oiler of Marion, Ohio have spent 18 years together and were making plans to live together in Marion. Ralph enjoyed playing Texas Hold Em and watching sporting events; including the Phoenix Suns, Green bay Packers, and the Cleveland Browns. Though his greatest sports passion were The Ohio State Buckeyes Football team; his mood varying with a win or a loss. He was known as a generous man who would “give you the shirt off his back” and whose family would do the same for him. Ralph was well known for his toughness, always putting on a good face, and never letting on when his illness may have been getting the best of him. His family described him as a “soft hearted”, “hard headed” man who was very passionate about life and his wonderful family.

He will be missed by his fiancé, Lois Oiler, two sons and their fiancés Ralph Michael Lyons, Tiffani Cheever and their daughter, Ralph’s only grandchild, Emersyn Rose of Ft. Myers, Florida and Rob Lyons and Tia Ault of Mount Gilead, a brother Phil (Gayala) Lyons of Cardington, Ohio, 5 sisters, Beulah Goodwin of Galion, Ohio, Juanita (Mike) Martinez of Mount Gilead, Ohio, Lois (Tracy) Osborne of Galion, Ohio, Joyce (Skip) Clark of Cardington, Ohio, and Gloria Martinez of Ashley, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and last but not least his dog Sampson “Sammie”.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Roderick, Everett, and Gary.

Friends may call on the family on Sunday November 19, 2006 from 2-5 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. Pastor Frank Robinson will conduct services there on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
