R. Scott Carpenter

LEXINGTON: R. Scott Carpenter, 55, of Morrow County Road 50, Lexington, died Friday afternoon from injuries he sustained in an agricultural accident at his home.

He was born November 15, 1946 in Mansfield, was graduated from Lexington High School in 1964, and earned an Associate degree from the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster.

A lifelong area resident, Scott owned and operated Chestnut Ridge Farms outside Lexington.

Scott was a member of Steam Corners United Methodist Church, and had been active in Scouting, serving as assistant scoutmaster for Lexington Troop # 152.

An avid hunter, Scott enjoyed antiquing.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn J. (Chandler) Carpenter, whom he married August 16, 1969; two sons and daughters-in-law Christopher S. and Julie Carpenter of Winchester, Kentucky and Andrew P. and Melissa Carpenter of Lexington; his daughter and son-in-law Amy J. and Tony Bowland of Sanger, Texas; a grandson Benjamin S. Carpenter; his mother Peggy Jo (Ansel) Carpenter of Lexington; a brother and sister-in-law A. Lance and Deanna Carpenter of Frisco, Texas; and a sister and brother-in-law Penny Ann and Thomas Jones of Morris Plains, New Jersey; nieces, nephews and cousins.

His father Robert P. Carpenter preceded him in death on December 11, 1974.

A memorial service will be held Monday evening March 11, 2002 at 7 pm in United Methodist Church of the Cross, West Main Street at Otterbein Drive, Lexington. The Rev. Don Christensen will officiate. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is assisting the family.
