R. Colleen Gatton
November 03, 1959 ‒ April 01, 2021
Colleen Gatton, age 61, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021, at OSU Wexner medical center in Columbus following a two-year battle with cancer. She was blessed to have family by her side.
Ruth Colleen Wolfgang was born November 3, 1959, in Mount Vernon the daughter of Richard & AnnaMae (Hamner) Wolfgang. She was a 1978 graduate of Braxton County High School in West Virginia. She met a young man named Jeffrey Gatton and the pair married on May 24th 1980.
Colleen worked a number of places, most recently she spent 10 years as a cabinet finisher with Benchmark Cabinets in Fredericktown and previously Merillat of Loudonville. She had a wonderful sense of humor and may have been described as highly opinionated, but most of all she was a fighter and a caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
Above all, she loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren. In spare time, she enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, playing a friendly game of LCR (a dice wager game, where she usually bet quarters), and camping at the family farm. She loved watching the birds enjoy the feeders she kept—especially hummingbirds.
Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jeff Gatton of Bellville; daughters and sons-in-law Annie & Dan Wade and Cassie & Robert Loveless all of Butler; grandchildren Mason Van Ross Wade, Jerry Vigil, Grant Wade, Isriella Vigil, Riley Wade, and Carter Wade; brother and sister-in-law Charles & Jodie Wolfgang of Bellville; numerous nieces and nephews including James Wolfgang (Jen) and Kaitlyn Wolfgang (Josh); along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews including Addi Boggs.
In addition to her parents Richard Wolfgang & AnnaMae Wolfgang, she was preceded in death by her infant brother James Eugene Wolfgang.
Colleen’s funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Snyder Funeral Homes (81 Mill Road in Bellville) and friends are invited to call from 9:00 AM until the service. Pastor Patrick Bailey will officiate and burial will follow in Zion Cemetery at four corners in Butler.
