Phyllis E. McCormick went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in the Arbors at Mifflin surrounded by her family. She was 84.

She was born December 20, 1933 to parents Reuben & Nellie (Shafer) Harvey in Mansfield. After Phyllis graduated from Johnsville High School with the class of 1951, she started beauty school and became a licensed beautician. Not long after she married Robert W. McCormick on June 30, 1952 and they spent 41 years together. They co-owned McCormick’s Market in Johnsville for several years.

Active in the Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church as a long time member, Phyllis played piano and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and playing the piano in spare time.

She is survived by her children Brigitte (Garl) Tallman and Terrence “Terry” (Robyn) McCormick; granddaughters Danielle Porter and Brook McCormick; great grandchildren Dante and Aniah; siblings Richard (Diane) Harvey; Shirley (Jim) Strouse, Janice (Ed) Mast, and Maureen (Gene) Osborn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. McCormick in 1993; and grandson Dustin McCormick.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Shauck Cemetery with Pastor Karen Wagenhals officiating.

  • I was saddened to hear of the passing of my cousin, Phyllis. I remember our Harvey family dinners through the years. Phyllis, and Bob were always a part of these. Good times and good food. I also remember her two children, Brigitte and Terry…such cute little children. My condolences to her family.
