Philip C. Snyder, 56, of Boulder, Colorado died Tuesday morning, March 11, 1986 in his home following a long illness.

He was born in Johnsville, Ohio  on September 30, 1929 to Ora O. and Marion Lucas Snyder.  He lived in the Bellville/Butler area until 1963, when he moved to Mount Gilead. He also resided in Marion from 1975 until moving to Boulder in 1978.

Phil attended Ashland College and the Cleveland College of Mortuary Science.  For 25 years, he served as secretary-treasurer and branch manager of Snyder Funeral Homes, Inc. managing the Butler, Mount Gilead and Marion Chapels of Snyder Funeral Homes.

His past memberships include the Trinity United Methodist Churches in Mount Gilead and Butler; Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion; Marion Rotary Club; Marion Y-Men’s Club; and the Marion Civic Chorus and Madrigal Singers.

Phil was also a 32nd Degree Mason, past member of Bellville Lodge 376 F&AM; and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus.  He was past president of the Mount Gilead Kiwanis Club, Mount Gilead Chamber of Commerce and the Morrow County Chapter of the American Heart Association.

He is survived by a daughter, Julie Snyder of Marion, Ohio; three sons and daughters-in-law Trent Snyder and Clay and Jacqui Snyder all of Mount Gilead, Ohio and Craig and Cindi Snyder of Marion, Ohio; four grandchildren Ryan, Chad, Tiffani and Cassandra Snyder; eight brothers and sisters-in-law David and Jean Snyder of Salida, Colorado, Robert and Dorothy Snyder of Coaldale, Colorado; Arden Snyder of Denver, Colorado; Richard and Helen Snyder of Fredericktown, Ohio;  Arthur and Joyce Snyder of Mansfield, Ohio;  Ora O. “Pete” and Gifta Snyder, J. Paul and Shontell Snyder and James and Patricia Snyder all of Bellville, Ohio; and three sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and William Ritchie and Patricia and Larry Hoffman all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Janet and James Hope of Bellville, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by one brother Donald Snyder.

Services were conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 1986 in the Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion by the Rev. C. Joseph Sprague.  Arrangements were in care of the Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Gilead.
