Peggy Wells, age 84, of Watson Street, Fredericktown, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born August 8, 1927 in Philadelphia to John and Mary Kathleen (Welsh) Hourigan.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a heart of gold. An Irish lass at heart, she spoke proudly of her heritage and enjoyed listening to Irish music. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends and especially by her loving husband of 65 years, Paul.
Peggy had been employed at Ritchey’s Cardinal Market in Fredericktown for over 35 years. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the Fredericktown Senior Citizens, Gideon’s International and was a former member of the Fredericktown Pythian Sisters.
Surviving besides her husband, Paul are her daughters Kathleen Mary (Timothy D.) Hammock of Marysville, Jackie Lynn (Fred H.) Henwood of Howard and Melanie Kay (Jack) Craw of Fredericktown; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers William Reinner, Alowishus Hourigan, Jack Hourigan and sister Kathleen Morgan.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where funeral services will be Thursday at 1pm with Pastor Susan Stevens and Pastor Sonja Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
