Pearl L. Mortimer, age 76, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Knox Community Hospital. Pearl was born February 28, 1935, in Mount Vernon to Irvin and Edith (Hall) Conkle and had spent her lifetime in the Knox County area. She was a member of the Howard Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband Bernard Mortimer whom she married September 16, 1975; her son, James (JoAnna) Litt of Mount Vernon; stepson Scott (Renee) Mortimer of Carroll, Ohio; stepdaughter Kathy (Ronald) Houck of Marengo; grandchildren Elle Mortimer, Jesse Litt and Cassie Litt; step-grandchildren Kaitlind Houck and Dirk Houck and step-great grandchild Riley Houck; sister-in-law Joan Conkle of Mount Vernon, many nieces and nephews and Lil Buddy (Cristi Gates).
She was preceded in death by her first husband Larry L. Litt in 1972, brothers Ralph Conkle, Harold Conkle, Carl Conkle, Clyde Conkle and Larry Conkle and sisters, Mae Albert, Mable Albert, Jean Albert, Leota Baker and Grace Thompson.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Pearl L. Mortimer.
