Pauline V. Whittington

March 18, 1938 ‒ December 26, 2020

Cardington, Ohio
Formerly of Marion, Ohio

Pauline V. Whittington, age 82, of Cardington, and formerly of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2020, with her loving family by her side at the Morrow County Hospital following a decline in her health.

On March 18, 1938, Pauline was born in West Virginia, one of six children of the late James L. and Goldie Yoho.  As a family, they moved to Marion, Ohio, when Pauline was a young child.  She graduated from Pleasant High School in the class of 1957.

For over 15 years, Pauline worked as a para professional at MARCA Schools in Marion.

Very faithful, Pauline was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marion, where she had helped with Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.  For the last 10 plus years, nearest and dearest to her heart was the Samaritan’s Purse organization, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.  She was a member of the local board of directors, and worked year round to fill as many donation boxes throughout the community as possible.

Making dear friends everywhere she went, Pauline loved being a part of the TOPS exercise group in Prospect, supporting each other to try and meet their goals.  For many years, she was a member of PWP / Parents Without Partners, again trying to help other parents cope with their new life challenges.  Most recently, she enjoyed the support of everyone at the DaVita Kidney Care dialysis center, where she was endearlingly known as “Paulette”.

The energizer bunny, Pauline always kept busy, working to make someone else’s life better.  She loved baking banana nut bread, and knitting blankets to give as gifts for family and friends, also donating baby blankets to a local teen pregnancy organization.

Most important of all to Pauline was her family.  She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her three children: Tammy (Hobie Sr.) Scarberry, Jim Whittington, and Sandy (Dan) Mallik; 8 grandchildren: Hobie Jr. (Ashley) Scarberry, Courtney Carrigan, Cassidy (Brock) Goodman, Emily (Aaron) Evans, Melody Whittington, and Kaleb, Tyler, and Ashley Mallik; 5 great-grandchildren: Alayna Scarberry, Ashton Carrigan, Bryce Goodman, and Isaac and William Evans; numerous nieces and nephews; and former husband, Hollis Whittington.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Her family will greet friends from 1 – 3 pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 4535 Smeltzer Rd, Marion.  Services honoring her life will then be observed privately by her family.  For everyone’s health and safety, masks are required in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or via (https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/memorial-giving/).
