Paul Eugene Taylor, age 84, of Marengo, formerly of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at his daughter’s residence. Paul was born November 12, 1929, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to the late Tolliver E. and Mae Belle (Fowler) Taylor.

Paul served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and went on to marry the love of his life, the former Polly E. Gearheart, on May 21, 1955. He retired from Ross Laboratory as Chief of Maintenance after 38 years and served as a deacon in the Worthington Seventh Day Adventist Church.

A gifted musician, Paul played in a Bluegrass and Square Dance band where he played guitar, fiddle and the mandolin.

An avid collector of many things, including antique bottles and stamps, Paul donated his rock and fossil collection to Capital University. He was proudest of his pencil collection.

Not one to procrastinate, Paul was always on the go, moving or fixing anything. And in the end, he did things his way.

He is survived by his loving wife, Polly E. (Gearheart) Taylor; daughters, Rhonda Taylor of Marengo; Cheryl (Jack) Weidner of Westville; Carol Taylor of Westerville; Donna Taylor of Columbus; son, David Taylor of Columbus; sister, Wilma Lazartic of Greensboro, Alabama; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by 4 siblings.
