Paul Ernest Jordan, age 81 of Sunbury died early Tuesday morning, June 5, 2007 at his home following a one month illness.

He was born on January 8, 1926 in Columbus to the late Saint Clair and Alice Margaret (Virtel) Jordan. A proud US Army Veteran and POW of WW II, he served in Company 513 of 17th Airborne Division. He retired in 1979 after 31 years with the Columbus Police Department.

Following retirement, he crafted mussel loaders, long rifles, fowlers, pistols, and powder horns under the name of Jordan’s Gun Shop. He was a member of several gun clubs’ including The Eye of The Hawk. Paul was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting all types of game, especially deer. Though loving, he was always a fighter and was most proud of his girls and grandchildren.

Survived by daughters: Sandy (Lewis) Antol of New Albany, Vickie Colburn of Westerville, Deborah (Robert) McBride of Apple Valley, 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren, fiancée Margaret A. Horn, Brother Robert (Rosemary) Jordan of Millersport, Sister-in-law Kathy Jordan of Thornville, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by daughter Carol Hammons, brother William Jordan, and sister Clarabell Wiggington.

His family would like to thank nephew Billy Jordan for his special care over the last month.

Friends may call Thursday 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Friday 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Gale Flowers officiating. Interment with military and police honors will follow in East Liberty Cemetery, near Sunbury.
