Patricia Irene Waldo

May 24, 1937 ‒ February 19, 2016

Marion, Ohio

Patricia “Pat” Irene (Felter) (Yelinek) Waldo, 78, of Marion, formerly of Toledo, passed away peacefully in her sleep the evening of Friday, Feb 19, 2016 following a determined 18 year struggle with dementia.  Her devoted husband, Frank, and many of her children and grandchildren were privileged to spend her last day on this Earth with her.

Born May 24, 1937 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Lynch) Felter of Detroit, and was raised and nurtured by Anthony and Florence (Lukasek) Yelinek of Detroit.  On August 8, 1959 she married Francis X Waldo in Gesu Catholic Church in Detroit and he survives in Marion.

Pat is also survived by four children, Ed (Karen) Waldo of La Rue; Teri (Tom) Titus of Marion; Dan (Brenda) Waldo of Pooler, GA; and Annette (Jeff) Cooper of Mt. Pleasant SC;  sixteen grandchildren, Kenny Confer, Kevin Confer, Kevin Waldo, James Waldo, Karen Morehouse, Lauren Waldo, Don Waldo, Anne Picklesimer, Robert Waldo, Dani Myers, Renee Cooper, Rachel Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Ben Waldo, Luke Waldo and Grace Waldo; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Donna (Bill) Pullicin of West Bloomington, MI; and Larry (Sharon) Yelinek of Whitmore Lake, MI.  She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Carole (Hil) Maciejewski in 2006.

Pat was a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  A graduate of Immaculata High School and the University of Detroit, she eschewed a career in favor of devoting her life to her family.  Singing, writing poetry, reading, and taking care of others were her life’s works and treasures.  An active and devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marion and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Toledo, Pat faithfully tended her own little flock and their friends without regard for the chronic pain with which she lived. Those who are left to miss her can only hope to live their lives half as well and as faithfully, eventually to join her in our eternal and perfect home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marion with Rev. Thomas Buffer officiating.  Interment in St Mary Cemetery will take place following the Mass, followed by a luncheon reception at the Knights of Columbus.  Friends may call Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM at the Gunder/Hall-Snyder Funeral Home at 347 W Center St, Marion where a Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 PM.   Additional calling hours are Monday, February 29, 2016 from 5 to 8 pm.

Memorial gifts may be made to Pilot Dogs of Columbus, c/o Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W Center St, Marion, OH  43302.

  • It has been a great privilege to know Pat and her family. Annette is our sister-n-law and she is a wonderful tribute to her Mom and Dad. We are lucky to have her in our family. Pat always made me laugh. She had a wonderful since of humor and it was always fun to be around her and Frank. We will miss her but know that she is in a much better place, a place we all long to be one day. In the arms of Jesus!

God’s blessings to all of her loved ones today. We are praying that as you gather around this sad day, you will know the love and peace that one day we will be united with Pat.

    Love,
    Paul & Pam
