Patricia Ann Spreng passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 88.

She was born on December 13, 1932, to parents Theodore & Hazel (Kinney) Rutherford in Loudonville. Patricia graduated from Loudonville High School with the class of 1950 and married David D. Spreng on December 29, 1949. The pair were married for 62 years until David passed away in August of 2012.

Patricia stayed home to take care of her four boys for many years and later went to work for AVI in Wooster for 10 years until retiring.

A  woman of faith, Patricia was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Loudonville. In her spare time, she loved to weave baskets and created many baskets over 25 years. She also enjoyed canning, pie baking, and camping and traveling with David in their motorhome.

She is survived by her sons Larry (Paulette) Spreng of Ashland, Timothy Spreng of Lakeville, and Scott (Kimberly) Spreng of Wellington; daughter-in-law Jonette Spreng; grandchildren Kimberly (Damon) Wilson, Lisha Lewis, Holly (Ryan) Heichel, Kyle Spreng, and Justin (Renee) Spreng; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her son Jack Spreng; and her siblings Edith Parsons, Beatrice Pearce, Irene Miller, and James Rutherford.

A service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel in Pioneer Cemetery, Ashland County Road 175, Loudonville, Ohio.  Pastor Dallas Waggle will speak, and burial will follow immediately.

  • Aunt Pat was a spirited , loving, woman, who was generous and had a great laugh. She had a great interest in genealogy’ as well as crafting. She was the last of the children of Theodore and Hazel Rutherford and all our memories of that era. I have many fond memories of Pat and Dave and you sons. I am sorry for your loss, fut feel confident that she now resides in a far better place.
