MANSFIELD: Patricia Ann Gowing passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 in her home at Primrose Retirement Community. She was 93.

She was born January 28, 1924 to parents Charles V. & Kathryne (Ford) Bancroft in Mansfield. After Patricia graduated from Mansfield Senior High, she went on to study at Miami University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

On February 14, 1948, she married Maurice F. “Bud” Gowing and they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 2001.

Patricia worked in the office of Barnes Manufacturing Company, in addition to raising her family.

Patricia was a long time member of First Congregational Church and served the church as Clerk to the Trustees. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Womens Club Federation.

In spare time, she took pleasure in knitting and needlepoint, as well as reading.  She was a long time member of the Woodland Club.  Patricia also enjoyed playing Bridge and was a fierce gin rummy competitor.

She is survived two sons and a daughter-in-law Thomas F. Gowing of Salinas, CA, and Charles R. and Carolyn Gowing of Meridian, ID; four grandchildren Cassie Gowing, Parker Gowing, Ashley Gowing and Zachery and Kelsey Gowing; and a brother Charles E. Bancroft.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

The Gowing family will receive friends Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service honoring Patricia’s life will be held Wednesday at 11 am.  The Rev. Bruce Haapalainen will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
