Patricia A. Adkins, age 74, of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday morning, October 23, 2013 at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on November 27, 1938 in Galena, daughter of the late Lauris and Frances (Carpenter) Bennett.

Patricia was a faithful member of the Brandon United Methodist Church. She volunteered many years with InterChurch Social Services and retired from food service at Kenyon College in Gambier. Patricia was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan and her greatest passion in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her children, Roger (Jeanette) Adkins of Delaware, Rosemary Cline of Mount Vernon, Judith Patterson of Marion, Ellis (Sandy) Adkins III of Mount Vernon, Roy Adkins of Marion, Randy (Jeannie) Adkins of Mount Vernon, Liza (Jake) Stokes of Walhonding, Sarah Adkins of Mount Vernon, and Calvin Adkins of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Melissa, Lucy, Matt, C.J., Johanna, Elley, Ellis IV, Will and Tucker; and a great granddaughter, Jillian; a sister, Susie Alexander of Marengo; and a daughter-in-law, Annika Adkins of Mount Vernon.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Adkins Jr. on August 20, 1988; daughter, Angela Mae Adkins; a brother, Larry Bennett; and sister, Donna Hogg; and a son-in-law, Bobby Patterson.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Brandon United Methodist Church, 13492 Sycamore Rd., Mount Vernon with Pastor Dave St. Aubin officiating. Burial will follow in Brandon Cemetery.
