Pastor Leroy A. Wilcox, age 95 of Ostrander, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Sunny Vee Nursing Center in Delaware.

He was born on May 1, 1910 in Silver Creek, NY to the late Alfred and Edna E. (Palmer) Wilcox. He moved to Delaware area in 1988 from Greer in Knox County. The church and his ministry were his life, as a lifelong pastor of 45 years. His early ministerial assignments included the West View, Harrison Chapel, and Kenton Wesleyan Church’s, he served at pastor of the Fargo Wesleyan Church from 1947 – 1951, Africa Wesleyan Church from 1951 – 1961 and Greer Wesleyan Church from 1961 – 1978. He also served as an assistant pastor for the Coshocton Burt Avenue and Cypress Wesleyan Church’s as Minister of Visitation.

An avid reader, he enjoyed flower gardening, especially lilies. He was also actively involved in the community ministerial associations of his church assignments and helped to form the Association of Danville Area Ministers (ADAM).

Survived by his second wife of 42 years: Dorothy L. (Taylor) Wilcox, Son: Marion L. (Joyce) Wilcox of Delaware, Grandchildren: Gary (Connie) and Deborah Wilcox, Great-grandchildren: Benjamin and Jennifer.

Preceded in death by his first wife: Stella (Long) in 1962, Daughter: Edna Edwards in 2003, Three infant Sons, and a Brother: Leslie Wilcox.

Friends may call Friday evening 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware and one hour prior to the funeral services to be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Cypress Wesleyan Church, 377 Alton and Darby Creek Rd., Galloway, OH, with Dr. David Holdren officiating, interment will follow in Africa Cemetery, Lewis Center.
