Pastor John R. Lenegar, age 64 of Columbus, passed away Friday afternoon August 25, 2006 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

He was born on March 6, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Francis L and Rosalie O. (Butler) Lenegar. He was a graduate of Moody Bible College in Chicago, Il. and pastored Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, Toledo and Walnut Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Centerburg.

John was an avid stamp collector, an aficionado of classic cars, thoroughly enjoyed classical music Mozart being one of his favorites, a favorite to speak at church conferences, book collector with over 1000 in his personal library, a movie buff, and enjoyed watching the 3 Stooges and was affectionately called Curly by loved ones.

He is survived by his loving Wife of 44 years: Joan (Schaer) Lenegar and they were married June 30, 1962 in Kenosha, WI., Daughter: Jennifer (Chuck) Haymond of Grove City, Granddogs: Rocky, Suzette and Archie. Brother: Daniel (Sandra) Lenegar of Kenosha, Sisters: Nancy (Lloyd) Sorrell of Amissville, VA., Mary (Nick) Kajca of Delaware and Kathy (Don) Mason of Worthington. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, Ohio where services will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. with Pastor Roger Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Trenton Cemetery.
