Pastor C. Frederick MacLean, age 72 of Mount Vernon, was promoted to glory on Thursday December 11, 2003. He was born October 11, 1931 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Leonard and Caroline (Morris) MacLean. Pastor MacLean was a graduate of the Salvation Army Training School in New York City and had served the Salvation Army from 1952 to 1967. He then served the United Methodist Church from 1967 until his retirement this year. He had served Methodist Churches in Mount Pleasant; Maynard, Green Valley Chapel and Liberty Chapel both in Mount Vernon, Trinity in Canton, Claridon, Kirkpatrick, Greenwich, Delphi and Salem Chapel near Fredericktown.

Surviving are his wife E. Pauline (Koconis) MacLean; 2 daughters Peggy (Mike) Streby and Joanne (Jim) Streby both of Mount Vernon; a son Kevin (Patsy) MacLean of Fredericktown; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers Leonard MacLean of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, William MacLean of Manahawkin, New Jersey, and David MacLean of Lynbrook, New York; and his sister Edith Bronson of Centerville, PA. He was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Ellis.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 21, 2003 at the Green Valley United Methodist Church beginning at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is assisting the family with arrangements.
