Pamela S. Ufferman Toney

August 25, 1957 ‒ July 29, 2010

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Pamela Sue Ufferman Toney, age 52, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Columbus, passed away early Thursday morning, July 29, 2010, following a courageous two year battle with cancer at home with her family and friends at her bedside.

On August 25, 1957, Pamela was born in Mount Gilead, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry and Cary (Hawk) Ufferman. Raised in Morrow County, Pam graduated from Highland High School in Sparta, in the Class of 1975. After working for several years, she returned to school and graduated from the Knox County Career Center School of Practical Nursing in October of 1991, and shortly thereafter received her Nursing license.

Having a heart of gold, Pam loved working with and caring for the elderly throughout her years. For many years, she was employed by Wesley Glen Retirement Community on High Street in Columbus, as their Clinic Nurse Manager, where she oversaw the health and wellness of Independent Living Residents. Her love for the elderly brightened her life and gave her strength with their stories and experiences they shared.

For Pam, her grandchildren were her world and the light of her life. She loved watching them play sports and rarely missed a game.

With a love for the ocean, Pam loved going to the beach and most especially to Dayton Beach in Florida. You could often find her walking along the beach before sunrise collecting shells and watching the sun come up. She even recently experienced the thrill of parasailing with her daughter.

Pamela will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Gabe and Karrie Horlacher of Mount Gilead, and their children: Courtney, Dylan and Evan; her daughter, Liz Price of Mount Gilead, and her son, Caleb; three brothers: Randy (Pam) Ufferman of Fredericktown, Terry (Wanda) Ufferman of Marengo, and Dave (Liz) Ufferman of Cardington; a sister, Barb (Bob) Castner of North Carolina; several nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and very dear and special friends: Kim, Laura, Crissy, Brenda, Stefani, Bonnie and Donna; all her friends and extended family from Wesley Glen; and her former husband and friend, Clarence Keckler.

Many thanks are extended for the multitude of cards, love and support from Wesley Glen residents and staff. Also, thanks to her physicians: Dr. Matyas, Dr. Gastoldo, Dr. Duff, Dr. Lippert, and Dr. Hofmeister, who worked hard to allow her to live longer with treatments. Lastly, thanks to Hospice of Morrow County for their special care and patience in her last weeks.

Her family will greet friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Memorial services celebrating her life will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Lockwood officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Morrow County, 228 South St., Mount Gilead, Ohio 43338.
