Pamela S. Steele, 61, of New Washington passed Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Born November 6, 1956 in Crestline, she was the daughter of the late Carmon Atkinson and Catherine (Stratton) Atkinson of Bucyrus. She married Douglas C. Steele on December 31, 1976 and he survives.

She was a 1975 graduate of Galion High School. Pam was responsible for and handled all regulatory and human resources for a home health agency she helped get started in Columbus in 2003. She loved and was proud of her sons, being like a second mother to all of their friends. Pam was a big supporter of athletics and the arts in the Galion schools. She was a former PTO leader at the former Dawsett Elementary School and a former officer for the American Legion Auxiliary in Galion. Pam enjoyed bingo, crocheting and making costumes for her sons, winning many prizes for best costumes at the former Octoberfest kiddie parades.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by sons Matthew (Carolyn) Steele of Mason and Cody (Monica) Steele of St. Bernard; stepdaughter Teresa (Nate) Swartz of Richwood; stepson Kevin (Katrina) Steele of Iberia; grandchildren Ainsley, Benjamin, Griffin, Cooper, Meyer and Ryder Steele, Case and Camden Swartz and Mya and Ella Steele; sister Peggy Neumann of Bucyrus, niece Heather Goins and nephew Wesley Neumann.

The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

  • Our prayers are with you Doug, Matt & Cody. Our memories of Pam are of her being there for her family, both in sports, theater and wherever her families dreams took them. Thank you for sharing her with us.

  • She was a great woman and an amazing Aunt I have so many good memories of growing up and we shared many laughs her laugh was contagious and we def gave her many reasons to be amused over the years and family get togethers. Sorry for your loss to all the rest that knew her and called her family like we did and for all her friends as well.
