Owen Haltom Dickerson, age 86 of Marengo died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Riverside Hospital.

He was born on October 2, 1922 in Cincinnati to the late Owen H. and Blanche (Ruschmann) Dickerson. A graduate of North High School, where he met his bride of 64 years; Roberta “Bobby” (Stevenson), he attended O.S.U. where he joined Beta Theta Pie and was a US Marine Corps veteran of both WW II and the Korean Conflict. Owen worked for the Walker T. Dickerson Co. and became the youngest president of a national shoe company. He spent the majority of his career acquiring land leases for oil speculation as a real estate agent and surveyor.

A licensed pilot and member of Quiet Birdman, Hope Lutheran Church, former member of Columbus Rotary Club, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also held a passion for camping with the family Airstream. He served as president of the Wally Byam Caravan Club in 1973 and enjoyed numerous club rallies.

Winters were spent in Punta Gorda, FL, he was the typical Marine and proud of his accomplishments and family.

In addition to his wife Bobby, he is survived by sons: Michael, Steven (Beckey) of Jackson, MS, Gary (Kathy) of Cincinnati, Patrick of Marengo, former daughter-in-law: Carolyn Frost, 5 Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one Grandchild.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 15370 Meredith State Rd., Sunbury, OH 43074 with Pastor Robert Riggs officiating. Inurment will follow at a later date in Union Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
