Oscar D. Davis

Oscar D. Davis, of Wintersong Village, Delaware died January 7, 2005 at the age of 81 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
He moved to Sunbury in 1952 and was a resident of Ruskin, FL from 1978 until 1999, when he returned to Sunbury. Oscar was born on August 17, 1923, in Artemus, KY, to the late Martin and Elon (West) Davis. Oscar was a WWII Navy Veteran and worked for Columbus Southern Electric Company as a lineman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunbury and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also the co-founder and president of the Genoa Conservation Club. Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: M. Maurine (York) Davis on June 29, 2004; Sons: James in 1958, Robert in 1997, several Brothers and Sisters.
Survived by children: Charlotte (Ray) Boyer of Bradenton, FL, Sally Nichols of Sunbury, Dale (Patty) Davis of Delaware, Kay (Dave) Jeffers of Sunbury, Daughter-in-law: Debbra Davis of Plant City, FL, 9 Grandchildren: Paul (Alicia) Nichols, Matt & Caleb Davis, Scott & Kelly Arnold, Justin (Tiffany) Jeffers, Jason Jeffers, Phillip & Devin Davis, 3 Great-grandchildren: Alex, Abi & Andrew Jeffers, Sister; Mary Patterson of AL, and Sisters-in-law; Rose Davis and Ivory (James) Kinder of Detroit, MI.
The family would like to thank special caregivers: Angela Spaulding, Alice Sumner, Jason Velasquez, Donna Jones, The Staff of Wintersong Village and Grady Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where service will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Carol Weiss and Larry Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park with military honors.
