Osborne L. Liggins II

Osborne L. Liggins II, (Bob), age 71,departed this life peacefully in his sleep

at his home in Delaware, Ohio on Thursday, September 27, 2001. Born in Malden,

West Virginia to Sallie (Hankins) and Osborne L. Liggins on July 14, 1930.

Married for 39 years to his wife “Rhett” and had two children from this blessed

union. Graduated from Garnet High School in Charleston, West Virginia in 1949.

Worked for Smoot Construction Company, which brought him to Ohio where he met

his wife. Korean War veteran and awarded the Occupation Medal of Germany during

his time in the U.S. Army. Retired after 25 years of service with the Warner

and Swasey Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Resided and raised his family in

Warrensville Heights, Ohio before retiring to his wife’s hometown of Delaware,

Ohio. Bob humbly accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and although he

was blind, his loss of sight only enabled him to appreciate other ways of

studying the Word of God. He also enjoyed songwriting, poetry, jogging, and

weight lifting. Preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Effie

Catherine Bush, Anna Lucinda Lee, Fay “Sadie” Gamble, Vivian Delois Johnson,

Rebecca Lenora Perry and Joan Ruffner Cheairs, all of Cleveland, Ohio. He is

survived by his wife Aretta Jo Liggins (Penn) and daughter Kim DeVel Liggins of

Delaware, Ohio, his son Osborne L. Liggins III, (wife, Tanya) of Cincinnati,

Ohio, his sister Elizabeth Eleanor Mosley of Charleston, West Virginia and many

other friends and family members. Friends may call Sunday 4-6 p.m. at DeVore

-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street where the funeral services will be

held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2001. Interment to follow at Oak Grove

Cemetery, Delaware, Ohio.
