Marengo, Ohio

Ora Jane Ayers, age 87, of Marengo died Monday morning, October 31, 2016 at Woodside Village in Mount Gilead.

Jane was born on November 26, 1928 in Mount Gilead the daughter of the late George E. and Fannie Belle (Chase) McLain.

Jane was a member of the Marengo United Methodist Church, served on the Board of Trustees for Senior’s on Center, was an Auxillary Member of the American Legion, and belonged to the Pythian Sisters.  She was also very active at the Morrow County Hospital, volunteering in the Extended Care Unit and as a TWIG as well.

She enjoyed knitting and coloring, but her true passion was reading.  Even as her eyesight began to fail her, the Cleveland Library for the Blind provided her with a reading machine so she could continue reading, especially Amish Novels.

Jane loved playing BINGO at Woodside Village and even continued her volunteer work there, rolling silverware.

She loved kids, especially babies.

Jane will be missed by her son Marion Samuel Ayers of Cardington; daughters Mary Jo (David) Brush of Mount Gilead, Truda Ayers of Mount Gilead, Linda Sue DeLauder of Maricopa, AZ, and Georgia Belle (Rick) Shamblen of Centerburg; 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Ivan, she was preceded in death by her brothers William McLain and George Edward McLain Jr. and her son-in-law Tom DeLauder.

The family truly appreciated the special care Morrow County Hospice showed their mother and were grateful for a special nurse at Woodside, Christa.

Friends may call on the family on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 73 West Walnut Street, Marengo, Ohio 43334.  Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
