Opal Jones, age 68 of Centerburg, died Saturday morning December 22, 2007 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.
She was born on January 29, 1939 in Mount Liberty to the late Wade and Sally (Stevenson) Gore. She attended Colonial Baptist Church in Bangs and currently was managing the Centerburg Commons Apartments. She was a retired school bus driver for Centerburg Schools and a former member of the Pythian Sisters in Mt Vernon.
Opal loved her Yorkshire Terrier Willie and enjoyed watching the Shopping Network and Law and Order. She was very family oriented and very strong willed.
She is survived by daughters: Juldean Jones of Centerburg and Edith Phillips both of Centerburg; grandchildren: Derek and Jarred Phillips, Heather (Doug) Lanigan, Brandy Lejeune, Shaun Stevens, Brittany and Lisa Compton; great grandchildren: McKenzie, Bailey and Hope.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jewel Jones on February 24, 2001; great granddaughter: Riley; sister Edith Gore.
Memorial services will be held at Noon Saturday December 29, 2007 at the Colonial Baptist Church, 7530 Johnstown Road, (Bangs) Mt. Vernon with Pastor Dan Whisner officiating with a luncheon to follow. Private interment will be held for the family in the Mount Liberty Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
