Oliver H. Taylor, 85, of Mt. Gilead, Ohio died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at the home of his son Edward.
He was born in Chesterville, Ohio on November 30, 1917 the son of the late Jay and Della Huvler Taylor. He graduated from Chesterville High School in 1935 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for the former Moore’s & Ross Milk Company in Columbus and for American Can in Delaware until retiring. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Am Vets Post #87 and served Seniors on Center as a driver for home-delivered meals. He will best be remembered as “Santa”, a role he played for many years at Southland Mall in Marion and for many other local groups and families.
He is survived by three sons Edward (Marsha) Taylor of Mt. Gilead, OH, David (Janie) Taylor of Ft. Myers, FL, and Marcus Taylor of Marion, OH; a daughter Barbara (Phil) Holtzapple of Mansfield, OH; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother Ralph Taylor of Glen Burnie, MD.
Monsignor Charles J. Foeller will conduct memorial services in the Snyder Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead Saturday, March 15, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
