Olan W. Holter passed away Sunday evening, August 14, 2016 in Oak Grove Manor surrounded by his family. He was 88.

He was born March 7, 1928 in Meigs County, Ohio to parents Earl & Jennie (Heilman) Holter.  A while later a beautiful young lady named Mildred Spencer caught his eye at party and the pair married on October 5, 1946. They shared nearly 70 years together.

Olan worked at Empire Detroit Steel Mill, where he worked for over 44 years until retiring in 1992. In spare time, he took pleasure in classic cars, whether it be working on them or driving them. He owned a 1955 Chevy Convertible and attended shows all over the state. He was a member of the 55’56’57’ Classic Chevy Club and the Chrysler Club.

He is survived by his loving wife Mildred Holter; his children Harold (Pat) Holter, Roberta Holter, and Wendell Holter; grandchildren Tina (Mark) Lassiter, and Loretta Moody; great grandchildren Kyle Griebling, Austin Moody, Ashley Moody, Zachary Lassiter, Nathan Lassiter and Samuel Lassiter.

In addition to his parents, Olan was preceded in death by his siblings Elmer Holter, Paul Holter and Aline Weaver.

A graveside service in Olan’s memory will take place in Mansfield Memorial Park on Saturday, August, 20, 2016 at 10 am with Celebrant Dave Roberts officiating.

  • olan was the man when it came to a 55 chevy. i could not think him enough for all his help if he didnt have the part you needed he knew someone that did . im so sorry for your loss. i can remeber him going into a building or the garage and get the part and say is this what your looking for young fella i will miss you my friend .
