Oather “Boyd” Farley, age 71, of Sunbury died Friday morning July 4, 2008 at Highland Manor in Portland Tennessee.

He was born on April 29, 1937 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Oather M. and Clara V. (Jordan) Farley. He was a truck driver last driving for the Croton Egg Farm. Former member of the Masonic Lodge in Detroit and a member of the Audubon Society.

Boyd was a people person he enjoyed being with and talking with, telling jokes or stories to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed writing poems and watching birds.

He is survived by son: Steven C. Farley of Portland, TN; daughter: Joy (Greg) Goebel of Hilliard; granddaughters: Brandy and Amanda and 2 great grandchildren. Sisters: Odella (Carl) Smith Gantt of Sunbury, Bina (Robert) Boudinot of Greer SC.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
