Norval B. “Minnie” Minnear

MANSFIELD: Norval B. “Minnie” Minnear, 85, of Wood Street, and formerly of Bucyrus, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a long illness.

He was born July 27, 1919 in Mansfield to Norval W. and Myrdyth Anna (Heyser) Minnear and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School.

A WWII veteran, he served with Company M, 338th Infantry, 85th Division of the U.S. Army in Europe.

He worked as a Jewel Tea salesman for more than 20 years.

Norval was a member of VFW Post #3494, AMVETS Post #26, Venus Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge #1108, and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by a son Norval “Nick” Minnear of Curtice, a son and daughter-in-law Larry and Patricia Minnear of Ashland; a daughter-in-law Wallie Minnear of Curtice; grandchildren Danielle Minnear, Denise Derby, Mitchell Minnear and Mindy Minnear; eight great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law Paul and Gin Minnear of Mansfield and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Harris) Minnear; a sister Mary Heslep; and three brothers Ben, Gene and Tommy Minnear.

A graveside service will be held Monday, July 25, 2005 at 2 pm in Lexington Cemetery. Military honors will be offered by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
