Norma M. Junker, 83, of Galion, died Sunday, September 04, 2011 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.
Born June 5, 1928 in Christopher, Ky., she was the daughter of the late William and Lillie Barlow Miller. She was preceded in death on Sept. 6, 1980 by her husband, Howard R. Junker whom she married on Feb. 17, 1951.
Norma was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and fulfilling her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She moved to Galion in 1963 when her husband retired from the U.S. Navy. She moved to Florida in 1988 to be near her family and back to Galion in 2004. Norma earned an Associate Degree of Arts and Sciences from The Ohio State University.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis L. and Mary Lou Junker of Galion and David L. and Sandy Junker of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Robin Sturgis of Galion; five grandchildren, Doug Shannan Junker, Jason Windy Junker, Jonathan Junker, Lynn Steele and Lauren Nick Pernell; seven great-grandchildren, Calli, Kelsey, Brooklyn and Christian Junker, Mya and Ella Steele and Audrey Pernell; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Margulee Miller of Rockwood, Tenn.; one sister, Mary Jo Miller of Fredericksburg, Va. and two sisters-in-law, Helen Miller of Kettering and Phyllis Junker of Leesburg, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Sturgis; four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery where Norma will be laid to rest next to her husband.
