MANSFIELD: Norma Jean Seymour passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in her Mansfield home following an extended illness. She was 85.

She was born May 27, 1931 to parents Charles & Catherine (Mills) Mitchell in Mansfield and graduated from Madison High School.

On January 14, 1951, she married Donald R. Seymour and they shared 56 years of marriage until he passed away in 2007. Now they are together again.

Norma Jean worked in the cafeteria of Lexington Local Schools, where she worked for over 18 years until retiring as the manager of Eastern’s cafeteria in 1988.

In spare time, she took pleasure in crocheting and knitting. Norma Jean also loved to read detective mysteries and humorous stories. She enjoyed travelling and took a special cross-country train trip with her daughter.

She is survived by son Russell J. Seymour of Dexter; daughter Linda Diane Seymour of Mansfield; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way and a newly adopted great-great-granddaughter Alley Bear; and a sister Patricia Workman of Mansfield.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Tamie Lynn Lewis in 1982, son Joseph C. Seymour in 2007, and brother James R. Mitchell.

Private services will be held at a later date.
