Norma Jean Hass passed away Tuesday afternoon June 18th after a brief illness at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tennessee.

She was born June 23, 1930 in Harmon, Va. She lived with her parents, Joseph and Linna Francis Clevinger, along with her five siblings, who have all preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard “Buck” Hass on October 18, 1988.

She married Willard (Buck) Hass in Clintwood, Va in 1950. Soon after that, they moved to Detroit, MI to start raising a family. In 1960 they moved to the Marengo area and took over ownership of the Fargo General Store located at the corner of SR 61 and CR15. The store burned down in 1981 and was not rebuilt. Buck and Norma were members of the New Testament Missionary Baptist church. She recently moved to Tennessee to live with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Steve) Wilson of Vonore, TN; her son Jeffrey (Kay) Hass of Marengo; her son Gary (Patty) Hass of Philadelphia, TN; 3 grandsons Rob (Kassy) Wilson; Rick Wilson, Justin Hass, and a step-grandson Scott Pickens; and 8 great-grandchildren: Alicia, Hannah, Kelsey, Makayla, Rae’Anna, Hunter, Kamera, and Landyn. She will be greatly missed by all.

Friends may call Friday from 6-8 the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Saturday 10 a.m. with Pastor William Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in the Butter Cemetery.
