Nola Evelyn Gale, 101, of Ashley passed away Thursday morning (April 5, 2012) at the Heartland of Marion.
She was born May 30, 1910 in Mason County, W.Va., to Robert and Nancy (Birchfield) Edwards. She retired from the RB Powers Company in Ashley and was also a homemaker. She had been an Ashley resident since 1926, was a member of the Ashley American Legion Auxiliary and the Alum Creek Friends Church, and enjoyed quilting and flowers.
She is survived by 12 grandchildren, Sue (Richard) Irey, Michael (Audrey) Gale, Gary Gale, Jeff (Dee) Gale, Bev (Armando) Castillo, Kimberly (Terry) Hummel, Kerry Gale, Karen (Joe) Burge, Cathy (Brad) Reece, Christi Gale, Gregory Gale and Terry Gale; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law, Joann Tyler of Chariton, Iowa, Ruth Gale of Mount Gilead and Marilynn Gale of Texas; and sister-in-law, Erdine Stanley of Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; sons, Floyd Jr., Dale, Wayne and Allen; sisters, Mae Eckard, Rebecca Crump, Clara Williamson and Ruby Reichardt; brothers, Lewis, Guy, William and Frank Edwards; and a daughter-in-law, Tommie Gale.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 307 E. High St., Ashley and where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, with the Rev. Darryle Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Marlboro Cemetery.
