Nickolas Thomas “Nick” “Grumpy” Pappy” Pennington passed away peacefully, Friday, July 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by love ones.
Nick was born on July 16, 1946 in Pennsylvania moving to the Columbus area in 1962. Later moving to Sunbury in 1988 after meeting and marrying his wife Laura. Where they would live and raise their two beautiful daughters.

Nick and Laura celebrated their 27th anniversary just a couple of weeks ago on June 16.

Nick had a love for cars and everything about them. He had a collection of over a 5,000 ranging from match box cars to large die cast collectables. He had a local car detailing company “Sunbury Klean-A-Kar” and also worked at LASH Chevrolet in Johnstown where he retired early in 2004 due to health concerns. Nick loved his cars but in April 2013 he got a new love his granddaughter Olivia April Anne.

Survived by wife: Laura Jane (Wymer) Pennington of Sunbury; daughters: Laura “Nicki” Pennington of Sunbury and Charlena “Charley” Pennington (Gary Cumberledge ) of Sunbury; granddaughters Olivia and Tabytha Cumberledge of Sunbury; mother- in- law Ruby Helton of Sunbury; sisters-in-law: Nancy Bartley of Delaware, Luana (John) Simpson of Columbus, Peggy Wymer of Delaware; brothers-in-law: Donald (Ruth) Wymer and Charles “Chuck” (Jeanine) Wymer of Galena; niece: Christina (David) Long and family of Columbus; nephew: Brandon (Patricia) Brooks of Delaware. As well as other nieces and nephews and special friend and neighbor Marion “Gene” Sparks.

Proceeded by: his parents, father-in-law: Everett B. Helton: brothers-in-law: Keith Brooks, Steve Bartley, Harry “Jimmy” Wymer; beloved neighbor Sue Sparks.

Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday at noon with Pastor Jeff Deel officiating. Burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
