Nellie H. Fisher, age 89, of Cook Road, Fredericktown, died Sunday, August 11, 2002, at the Heritage Manor Home in Minster, Ohio.
She was born on October 15, 1912 in Hunington, Indiana, daughter to the late Fred and Mary (Lawrence) Hacker. Nellie moved to Fredericktown in 1943 where she was involved in the Nazarene Church as a secretary, treasurer, church children’s director, and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She was a member of the Fredericktown Church of the Nazarene. Nellie also was a member of the Fredericktown Garden Club where she served as President, the Regional and Ohio State Garden Clubs, the American Jersey Cattle Club, and Ohio Jersey Breeders Association, and received her associate degree from Hunington College. She furnished flowers for the Queens thrown at the Ohio State Jersey Show and served as Head of the Fredericktown Tomato Show’s flower department. Nellie loved to raise her cow’s and Dahilia’s.
She is survived by a daughter, Gretchen (Eugene) Huvler of Fredericktown, a son G. A. Fisher of Fort Loramie, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren, a brother Dale (Janice) Hacker of Huntington, Indiana and a sister Mildred Hulse of Fredericktown.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband who passed in 1965, Truman Fisher, and two brothers, Dean and Glen Hacker.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at the Fredericktown Church of the Nazarene from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A service will follow at 1:00 PM with the Pastor Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be held in the Rivercliff Cemetery in Mt. Gilead.
